I am mapping the Gravitational Wave Sky.

LIGO is expected to observe gravitational wave events (e.g. compact binary coalescence, burst etc.) that are in the nearby galaxies. But these events are always happening in the all over the universe. The combined signal from all these events will create a stochastic background.

This background can be mapped using aperture synthesis techniques. Cross-correlation of data from the two LIGO interferometers can be used to make all-sky maps. These maps are the perfect visualisation of the gravitational wave sky.
